Former super eagles star, Mobi Oparaku brutalized by police in Imo

Atlanta '96 gold medallist and former super eagle, Mobi oparaku was beaten mercilessly by police officers in Imo state on Thursday.

Mobi was assaulted by 7 armed policemen for reasons unknown. The incident took place around 1:35pm near 5 Rotibi street Owerri. Report says Mobi was seen with a torn T-shirt and a bleeding mouth.

According to him,

''My only contact with the policemen was when the driver of the patrol van asked me if the road was a one way road and I replied in the negative. Thereafter, armed men started beating me and even wanted to force me to enter their van.''

When the police PRO was contacted for statements, he denied having any knowledge of the matter and requested that the victim should come and see him at the station.

This is too bad..a national hero and olympic gold medallist, beaten like a dog, the Imo state government should properly look into this matter.
