Today, November 6th 2012, South Africa released new currency notes. The new rand notes now have the head of Anti-apartheid hero and former president, Nelson mandela.
The government decided to this in honour of the 94 year old for his numerous contributions to the country and Africa.Mandela is the first black man to appear on the south african rand.
The new 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 rand banknotes feature Mandela’s image on one side and the other side maintains the Big Five animals already on the bills.
